In January 2025, Goldman Sachs’ alternative investment division, in partnership with Dalfen Industrial,
AT&T has proposed the development of a 30,000-square-foot warehouse and administrative facility in southeast McKinney, aiming to bolster its high-speed telecommunications network in the area.
Project Details:
• Location: The facility is planned on an approximately 11-acre site at the northwest corner of Airport Drive and Old Mill Road, situated just south of the existing Harry McKillop Boulevard and the future Spur 399 extension.
• Facilities and Operations: The development will encompass both warehouse and administrative spaces, serving as a base for AT&T’s field technicians who will be dispatched to service customers in the region.
• Employment and Investment: The facility is expected to employ approximately 250 individuals and represents an estimated investment of $5 million.
Zoning and Approvals:
The project site is currently zoned for agricultural and residential uses. To proceed, a rezoning to light industrial use is required. On February 25, the McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of this rezoning request. The final decision now rests with the McKinney City Council, which is scheduled to address the matter on March 18.
Community Feedback:
During the commission meeting, three community members expressed concerns regarding potential noise from warehouse operations and the impact on local natural environments. City planning staff noted that the proposed site is adjacent to other industrial uses near McKinney National Airport, aligning with the area’s development trajectory.
